Rami to leave Hammers

Rami Shaaban has revealed he will head back to Arsenal next week after failing to make an impact at West Ham.

The talented keeper was involved in a goalkeeping merry-go-round during January's transfer window, arriving at West Ham in the wake of David James' sale to Manchester City.

Despite having high hopes of forcing himself into the thinking of Hammers boss Alan Pardew, West Ham have opted to keep faith with James' understudy Stephen Bywater.

Bywater has made the number one jersey at Upton Park his own, which has left Shaaban a frustrated spectator from the substitutes' bench.

With little hope of replacing Bywater, Shaaban has revealed he will head back to Highbury next week.

"No, there is no point in me being there if I'm not playing," Shaaban told Egyptianplayers.com. "I have one week left and I don't think I will play that game either because the manager won't want to change things knowing that it is my last game."

Shaaban headed to West Ham in the hope of building up his match sharpness following a frustrating time with injuries.

His aim was to make an impression on Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger and earn a new contract, but it would appear his plans are now up in the air.

"I will go back to Arsenal and then take it from there," the 28-year-old concluded.
