Donny trial Kiwi defender

Doncaster Rovers boss Dave Penney has handed a trial to former Barnsley defender David Mulligan.

The New Zealand international was released from a week-to-week contract at Oakwell back in October before having an unsuccessful trial with Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

The 22-year-old will now try his luck with the Belle Vue club, who are flying near the top of the Division Three table since returning to The Football League at the start of this season.

Meanwhile, Donny have released young midfielder Bryan Craig from the club.

The Scot failed to make a first-team appearance, having been a regular in the youth team and reserves the past couple of seasons.

Craig has since moved on to join non-league side Gainsborough Trinity last week.
