McLeish eyes Mpenza brothers

Rangers boss Alex McLeish was present at Belgium's 2-0 home defeat to France to cast his eye over Emile and Mbo Mpenza.

The Gers manager was amongst the crowd at Koning Boudewijn Stadium as Les Bleus strolled to a comfortable victory.

Standard Liege forward Emile is the most likely target as he has rediscovered his form back home after his career stalled in Germany with Schalke.

However, the Ibrox boss is likely to face stiff competition from Bundesliga leaders Werder Bremen who are thought to be interested in bringing him back to Germany as they will lose front pair Ailton and Ivan Klasnic in the summer.

Mbo Empenza plies his trade in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon and may be a more realistic target for McLeish.

It is also possible that the Ibrox chief was planning to watch eye-catching future Gers player Jean-Alain Bousmong, although the Auxerre defender only managed to get five minutes' action after replacing Chelsea's William Gallas.
