Lazio defender in talks
The 35-year-old Serbia & Montenegro defender's present deal at Stadio Olimpico expires in June, but his passion for the game means he is not contemplating retirement.
"I held a couple of rounds of talks with the club's management over a contract extension and it is left to put on paper all the things we agreed," he said.
"I would like to play for Lazio for another season."
Mihajlovic is a little concerned, however, that the Roman club's precarious financial position may scupper his plans to remain in the Italian capital.
"If something goes wrong, I might go to Qatar for a year or two," he revealed. "I have heard some good things about playing prospects in that country.
"I know that some people are counting me to be over-age, but I am not giving up.
"I still enjoy playing and I don't intend to stop doing it, although Lazio's management have informed me that they would like to give me a role in the club after my retirement."
The stylish stopper has courted controversy during his stint in Italy, most recently when clashing with Chelsea's Adrian Mutu and earning a red card in this season's UEFA Champions League.
