Gresty Road return for Hignett

Craig Hignett has returned to Crewe Alexandra following the completion of his move from Premiership side Leicester City.

The 34-year-old returns to Gresty Road for a four-week loan spell and is set to debut when The Railwaymen visit struggling Bradford City on Saturday.

The former Middlesbrough, Barnsley and Blackburn Rovers player was delighted to arrive back at the club where he started his professional career back in 1988.

"I'm really excited by it all. It feels a bit strange to be back but I'm pleased I am here and I just can't wait to play some games now," Hignett told Crewe's official website.

"I've been a bit frustrated because I haven't been starting games at Leicester, but Micky (Adams) has been good enough to let me go out on loan to get some match fitness.

"I spoke to Dario (Gradi) and he then had a word with Micky and everything has gone on from there, but it wasn't a difficult decision, (to come here) put it that way."
