Royals trial United starlet

Reading have handed a trial to Manchester United's Danny Byrne and will field the youngster in a reserve team fixture against Brentford at Griffin Park on Wednesday.

Byrne has been told that he does not feature in United's future plans, and is looking for a new home.

The 19-year-old midfielder will be looking to win a permanent deal from Royals manager Steve Coppell, and will be handed an immediate chance to show what he can do.

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international has also spent time on loan at Hartlepool, but failed to make an impact.

Coppell's side drew 2-2 with Burnley on Tuesday to leave them eighth in Division One, with a play-off spot the club's main priority.
