Hislop delight at Owen save

Portsmouth keeper Shaka Hislop revealed his delight at finally making a penalty save after stopping Michael Owen's FA Cup spot-kick at the weekend.

The former West Ham, Newcastle United and Reading shot-stopper saved his first penalty in his 406th career game against Liverpool.

Hislop, who turned 35 on Sunday, was relieved to finally guess the correct direction and believes he was due a stroke of luck from the penalty spot.

"For once in my life I guessed right," said Hislop. "I just never seemed to go in the right direction before, so I had to get lucky sooner or later."

Pompey now face Arsenal in the quarter finals of the FA Cup in the next round and the experienced keeper is hoping not to be on the end of another beating.

"I've been on the wrong end of a few Arsenal beatings, but if I can save a penalty, then we can knock them out," he concluded.
