Figo makes Real boast

Luis Figo has put his neck, and those of his Real Madrid team-mates', on the block by insisting that Los Merengues are 'without doubt' the best team in the world.

The brash statement is sure to put noses out of joint across Europe, and will leave Real open to be shot down should their campaign not end in glory both at home and abroad.

Figo has confidently predicted that Real will win every competition open to them, (La Liga, UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey), and also declared that he had been completely vindicated in his decision to leave Barcelona for their arch rivals.

"Without any room for doubt Real Madrid is the best team in the world and this season we will demonstrate it by winning every title possible," the winger told Arab magazine Ainawi.

"I did not make a mistake in leaving Barca in either a sporting or personal aspect. I would do it again.

"In this Madrid side we have put together one of the best generations of players, and with good effect."

Figo went on to pay handsome tribute to his team-mates insisting even he continued to learn from them, and reserved special praise for England skipper David Beckham.

"Everyday I learn something from being beside (Zinedine) Zidane, Ronaldo, or Raul.

"The team is more united than ever.

Of Beckham he added: "How could people doubt he would do so well for us if he is one of the best footballers of all time?"
