Duff: Robben move a blow

Chelsea winger Damien Duff has revealed that the club's transfer swoop for Dutchman Arjen Robben from PSV Eindhoven is 'a kick in the teeth'.

The Republic of Ireland international, who joined the Stamford Bridge outfit in a big money-move in the summer, has been sidelined recently with shoulder and Achilles tendon problems.

The former Blackburn Rovers man is on the verge of returning to first team action with the West London giants but, with The Blues putting pen to paper this week with fellow winger Robben for next season, the Irishman sees the Holland star's impending arrival as a threat to his position in Claudio Ranieri's squad.

"I must admit it was a bit of a kick in the teeth after two months out to hear about it," Duff said.

"But I'll just have to carry on doing what I always do and work hard - hopefully that will be okay for me.

"I hear Robben is a left winger but I don't play there very often so maybe I'll get a game somewhere else in the team!"

Duff's agent Pat Devlin seemed less concerned with Robben's arrival by suggesting to Sky Sports News that the Dutchman will not trouble his client for a place in the Chelsea side.
