Wimbledon 0 Nott'm Forest 1

Nottingham Forest, who ended an 17-match run without a win on Saturday, made it two wins out of two against their relegation rivals with a 1-0 success at Wimbledon.

Gareth Taylor, who stepped off the bench to score a last minute winner against Bradford at the weekend, rewarded manager Joe Kinnear's decision to play him from the start with the only goal after four minutes.

Andy Reid's shot was kept out at the near post by Wimbledon keeper Steve Banks, but Taylor was on hand to head the rebound into the empty net from four yards.

The Wales international almost added a second five minutes later with another header which sailed over the crossbar.

His strike partner Marlon King was also causing problems for the home defence, and he tested Banks with a drive from 25 yards.

Mark Williams almost brought Wimbledon level, but after Dean Lewington flicked on Warren Barton's corner, the defender directed his header against a post.

King was again denied by Banks as Forest pushed for a second goal before Nick Barmby had a header tipped over by the Dons keeper.

Neither side could create any meaningful chances in a dismal final 20 minutes, but Forest are now unbeaten in five games and have moved four points clear of the relegation zone.
