Kaiser slams Bayern and Ballack
The German giants, who have already been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and the German Cup, are in danger of finishing the campaign without any silverware for the second time since 2002 after league leaders Werder Bremen managed to increase their lead to nine points at the weekend.
Beckenbauer has launched an astonishing attack on Ballack, who established himself as one of the best players in Europe at Bayer Leverkusen, claiming he does not portray the right attitude when playing for Bayern.
"He plays without enthusiasm and does not change his rhythm at all, it's always the same tempo," bemoaned Beckenbauer after Bayern threw away a 2-0 lead in the disappointing 3-3 home draw against Hansa Rostock on Saturday.
"The domestic title is out of our reach for some time, all that matters now is to come second and gain automatic access to the UEFA Champions League.
"I think we have to analyse our current problems: Where's Ballack's problem? Do the other players accept him? Is he physically not fit? And how can coach Ottmar Hitzfeld motivate his squad the way it should be?"
Chosen as successor to former skipper Stefan Effenberg, Ballack joined Bayern Munich after an outstanding season in 2002 when he guided Leverkusen into the Champions League final and his country to a World Cup runners-up spot.
However, the attacking midfielder has failed to impress in big games since arriving at the Olympic Stadium.
