Dede set for Qatar U-turn
The Brazilian full-back was targeted by the Gulf State along with brother Leandro and Werder Bremen star Ailton to represent them in their World Cup qualifying campaign for the finals in Germany in 2006.
Bayern Munich were also interested in the 25-year-old but after board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge's damning condemnation of the player's decision to even think about playing for Qatar, a move to the Bavarians now looks uncertain.
"I don't want any bother with my club Borussia Dortmund," he said. "Playing for Qatar would have created a conflict of interests.
"Money wasn't the motivation, it's my dream to play in a World Cup. That was my interest."
Rummenigge may of course change his mind now Dede is sure to make his U-turn and the player said it would be an honour to play for the German champions, but is happy to stay at Dortmund if a move fails to materialise.
"Every player wants to play for Bayern Munich," he said. "They are a fantastic, well-run club, but if it doesn't work out then there are many other clubs where it would be fun to play football - even Borussia Dortmund."
