Squillaci still doubtful

Monaco centre back Sebastien Squillaci has confirmed he will miss the weekend clash with Sochaux and is still doubtful for the UEFA Champions League match with Real Madrid.

The highly-rated defender is desperate to be involved in the showpiece games with Real but has been suffering from a muscle strain.

"I will be a little short for the match against Sochaux," he told L'Equipe. "I don't want to take any risks and get seriously injured in two months.

"Perhaps I could have played if the match was played one or two days later.

"I hope to be fit for Real.

"But I don't want to be optimistic. I evaluate everything.

"Physically, I have worked, I have pace.

"If I have good feelings and, if I am at the club's disposal, I will be able to play a whole match.

"If this is the case, it will be up to the coach to decide.

"But it would be very important for me to be in the squad that leaves for Madrid."
