Bucci undergoes operation
Empoli goalkeeper Luca Bucci has undergone major surgery in an attempt to cure a shoulder injury that has dogged the talented custodian all season.
The player has been ruled out for the past two months and has now had his shoulder's cartilage and tendon rebuilt, in a bid to regain optimum fitness for next season.
Bucci is expected to need a minimum of four months to recover from this operation and is consequently ruled out for the remainder of this season and possibly the beginning of the next campaign.
The player, whose contract expires in June, admits he had no alternative but to proceed with surgery.
''It was the only possibility if I was to have any chance of playing next year,'' conceded Bucci.
