Valerenga slap ban on Normann

Former Coventry City midfielder Runar Normann has been gagged by Valerenga in a bid to bring him into line with club policy.

Normann only joined Valerenga two months ago but has already courted controversy following the club's pre-season training camp in La Manga.

The Norwegian was pictured leaving a casino with a wad of cash and the publication of the images in a newspaper prompted suggestions Normann is a heavy gambler.

Now, Valerenga have moved to keep Normann out of the spotlight by ensuring he seeks permission before granting any interviews.

"I never thought I should have to give someone a muzzle but he needs to be under a special regime when it comes to interviews," Valerenga director Kjetil Siem told VG.

"He is like a kangaroo in a minefield. Without being evil to him, he has got a different understanding to the club's board about what is right and wrong.

"It's not good that we have got to adjust to his comments. Now, Runar has got to concentrate on delivering on the pitch."

Normann has accepted Valerenga's decision and has moved to draw a line under his recent casino success.

"He is the boss and he decides," commented Normann on the matter. "I do what Valerenga ask me to do.

"I played as I always played - to win. And I have been lucky. I will not say how much I spend or earn but it was unfortunate that it came out in the media."
