Van der Sar wants Fulham exit

Fulham's Edwin van der Sar has expressed his disgust at the 'nice words' that he was told to lure him to the club, and stated his desire to leave for his native Holland.

Van der Sar's scintillating form saw the club let Maik Taylor leave for Birmingham, but the goalkeeper has indicated his desire to leave for pastures new in the News of the World.

"Fulham is not my club," said van der Sar. "I still want to win things and I know that will never happen at Fulham.

"That's the reason why I want to go back to Holland. I am 33 and this is my last chance to play for a big club and possibly to win major trophies.

"When I discussed my contract here three years ago they told me of the money they had, the big names they wanted to buy, the new stadium they were going to build and how we were going to build and how we were going to lift Fulham to the top, even to the top in Europe.

"But there were just nice words. The worst thing is that they sold Louis Saha. He was key to our success."
