El Moro shows no sorrow

Monaco loan star Fernando Morientes has expressed his delight at scoring against his own club Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League quarter final clash.

The Spanish forward, nicknamed 'El Moro', joined the Principality side at the start of the campaign on a season-long loan from Los Galacticos, as he fell down the pecking order at El Santiago Bernabeu behind Raul and Ronaldo.

Morientes denied he had split loyalties on scoring at Stade Louis II, as he did in the first let in Madrid, but confessed to being slightly sad: "I am a professional footballer and I only have Monaco on my mind right now.

"Of course I am a bit sad because I have many friends at Real Madrid and I guess they're not having a great time.

"What can I say? One of the two teams had to go out and I'm happy it was not my current one."

Rumours in the last few weeks claim the striker has no intention of heading back to Madrid at the end of his loan, with Juventus and Barcelona reportedly interested, but Morientes says he believes he is set to return.

"From my point of view, things are pretty clear," he added. "Real Madrid have loaned me to Monaco for the season and in June I am going back to Santiago Bernabeu.

"That's the way I see it. But of course I will have to talk to president (Florentino) Perez before we say it is done."
