Roberto Carlos blasts critics

Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos believes all the criticism he and his team-mates have been receiving in the wake of their UEFA Champions League exit is unfair.

The Spanish giants have been widely criticised by their fans and the local media following their shock defeat to Monaco and Roberto Carlos is unhappy at how they have been treated.

"I think that the supporters and part of the press is not respecting us," he said. "This season has been very long for us and although we aren't tired physically, we are tired psychologically.

"I think that criticism should end now. We are all thinking about getting a good victory against Osasuna and ending all that has been said in the last days.

"Now is the moment to start again. We have more time for preparing for each match from one Sunday to the other, we will be able to train better and even play better.

"Nothing is easy in Real Madrid when you lose a match. Everyone talks too much and we receive too much criticism.

"Three weeks ago we were the best team in the world and now suddenly we are the worst. The only positive thing that we have is that we are still the leaders of the Liga."
