Bayern turn to Deco

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Porto star Deco after admitting that they are likely to fail with their bid to land Argentine youngster Carlos Tevez.

Bayern were reportedly ready to offer $15 million for the highly-rated 19-year-old but are now looking for alternatives after being frustrated about Boca's on-and-off negotiation tactics.

‚Ç£It looks as if the decision was made against a move to Bayern and I got the impression that they tried to fool us,‚Ç¥ general manager Uli Hoeness fumed.

According to German football magazine Kicker, Bayern's search for a new player who can star behind the strikers and effectively link them to midfield has led them to Porto's naturalised Brazilian Deco.

The diligent 26-year-old midfielder would exactly match Bayern's demands of a hard-working and technically gifted player who can add creativity to their rather predictable style.

A delegation including main scout Wolfgang Dremmler has already taken a closer look at the player during Porto's 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw at Lyon.

The Portuguese table-toppers seem unwilling to let their star player leave after Deco inspired them to the Uefa Cup title last season and played a vital role in the team that has reached this term's Champions League semi-finals.

An offer offer well over ‚é¼10 million might change their mind but Paris Saint Germain have also been sniffing around the gifted schemer.
