Assauer wants Bordon summer switch

Schalke general manager Rudi Assauer has confirmed that he will be looking to bring Stuttgart defender Marcelo Bordon to Gelsenkirchen this summer.

The Brazilian stopper has already signed a four-year deal with the Royal Blues that commences in 2005, however Assauer still wants to see him in a Schalke shirt next term.

Speaking on German television, Assauer announced that he had reached an agreement with the player and would now be looking to agree a fee with Stuttgart.

VfB coach Felix Magath, however, reacted angrily to Assauer's statement ahead of Sunday's crucial Bundesliga game at Freiburg saying: "Assauer and I see things very differently.

"One shouldn't make such statements immediately before our match. That's bad style.

"From a sporting point of view there is no reason whatsoever to let Bordon go early.

"We want to play in the Champions League again next season and need as strong a squad as possible."
