PSV tipped to land van Persie

Feyenoord forward Robin van Persie could well stay in Holland despite widespread interest from around Europe.

The youngster has made a big impression in the last couple of years but seems set to move on after indicating he will not extend his contract.

With van Persie's contract due to expire in the summer of 2005, Feyenoord will look to broker a deal during the close season.

It appeared as if the youngster would move abroad, but a deal could be struck with PSV Eindhoven after they expressed interest in securing his signature.

"Van Persie's first thoughts were for foreign clubs," said the player's agent Erwin Boonacker. "That's why we were surprised to hear of interest from PSV.

"There are about ten clubs from England, Spain, Italy and Germany that are interested in van Persie, but it may be wiser to choose PSV."

Van Persie is looking to finish the season before making a decision on his future.

"I have not signed anything yet," van Persie told AD Sportwereld. "So until the end of the season I'll be playing for Feyenoord."
