Happy Thuram eyed by Arsenal

Arsenal have been credited with a heavy interest in Juventus full back Lilian Thuram, despite the France international's apparent eagerness to stay with the Serie A champions.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a firm admirer of the 32-year-old after the pair worked together at Monaco.

Sources in Italy claim Wenger is now keen to rekindle their working relationship and is plotting a summer bid for the powerful defender.

The speculation suggests The Gunners are ready to offer ‚é¼8 million (£5 million) to Juventus and a four-year contract to Thuram.

Following a poor season by their standards, Juve may be seeking to rebuild in the summer and could be persuaded to offload the ageing Thuram.

However, Thuram may require more convincing to leave Stadio Delle Alpi, where he is under contract until 2006.

He recently admitted his happiness in Turin and hinted he is unlikely to leave Juventus until his present deal expires.

''When I feel good in a team I don't move,'' confirmed Thuram.

''In my career I've spent seven years in Monte Carlo and five in Parma. Now I feel good here.

''Then in two years, at the contract's expiry, we will see what happens."
