Quashie called into Scots squad

Portsmouth's Nigel Quashie has been called into the Scotland squad for the friendly with Denmark.

The Pompey midfielder is one of three new faces in Berti Vogts' party, along with Norwich's Malky Mackay and Leicester man Peter Canero.

Quashie has already been capped at Under-21 and B level by England, but now has the chance to force his way into the Scotland set-up ahead of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

He has struggled with injury this season, but his return has coincided with Pompey's upturn in form and manager Harry Redknapp believes there is still more to come from the former QPR and Nottingam Forest man.

"He started the season great, but has had a few injuries, although he is back to full fitness now," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "He really does have the ability to go right to the top.

"He's a terrific passer and it's all there for him - and this will be a massive boost for the lad."

Vogts, who is under pressure following a wretched run of results has also brought back two familiar faces who missed the 2-0 defeat by Romania last month.

Norwich midfielder Gary Holt is back, while Leicester striker Paul Dickov, left out following the incident in La Manga, returns to a squad that includes 11 Scottish Premier League players.
