No Toon return for Lua Lua
Robson had hoped to bring Lua Lua back from his loan spell to help out with his injury crisis, but chairman Freddy Shepherd has confirmed he will not be returning.
The African striker was dispatched to Fratton Park on loan after a spat with the veteran coach, but his services would be welcome back in the North East.
Robson has a major injury crisis on his hands with Craig Bellamy, Jermaine Jenas and Kieron Dyer all out injured and the likes of Shola Ameobi, Titus Bramble and Lee Bowyer also struggling.
The former Colchester striker has already said he wants to remain with Harry Redknapp's side until the end of the season but a worried Robson had tried to get him back to St James' Park.
"It has crossed our minds to recall Lomana Lua Lua and we have contacted Portsmouth to that effect," said Robson.
"At the moment I would say there is a stalemate there.
"We've had a bit of bad luck at the wrong time, but our team will compete and do our supporters justice.
"Our spirit is willing and we will do our very best."
Newcastle face French side Marseille in their Uefa Cup semi-final on Thursday and Robson is desperately short of strikers.
However, the Congo forward has been a great hit with the Pompey fans and it looks like he will be remaining with the Premiership strugglers for the rest of the season.
"It is not going to happen," said Shepherd when quizzed about Lua Lua's possible return, and it now looks like Robson will have to make do with the number he has available.
