Ruud's agent denies departure

Ruud van Nistelrooy's agent has moved to distance his client from reports of a summer departure - despite growing speculation that a move to La Liga is in the offing.

The striker's Dutch agent Rodger Linse has been accused of trying to broker a deal with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid - an accusation he vigorously denies.

"I'm sick and tired concerning the rumours around Ruud van Nistelrooy,'' Linse told the Sunday Mirror.

"I hoped I wouldn't find myself in a situation where I would have to deny the rubbish that has been written about Ruud and my alleged involvement in attempting to negotiate a transfer to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

"I have not done a deal with Barcelona and neither me or Ruud have met Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and discussed a move."

The Dutch predator issued a denial on Friday but with increased speculation that interest from both clubs does have credence, Linse refuses to shut the door entirely on the prospect of a departure.

"Any player would be flattered by interest from clubs the size of Barcelona and Real Madrid and Ruud is no different," continued Linse.

"But there is nothing going on yet and that is why Rudd is going nowhere.

"He has signed a contract extension until 2008 and nothing has changed in that respect. Until someone says otherwise, he will remain a Manchester United player."
