McNamara wins player award

Celtic star Jackie McNamara has won the Scottish Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award.

The Scottish international beat off team-mates Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton to the award.

Sutton had already won the Players' Player of the Year award after a fine season at Parkhead.

McNamara has been in inspirational form for Celtic this term playing in a variety of positions for Martin O'Neill's men.

The defender has been an unsung hero for Celtic this season as they stormed away with the SPL title and reached the quarter finals of the Uefa Cup.
