Gamst Pedersen focused on Tromso

Tromso's Norwegian international midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen is focusing on playing for his club after being linked with Premiership outfit Blackburn Rovers.

The 22-year-old, who netted twice on his international debut against Northern Ireland, is being described as the Norwegian David Beckham.

However, despite the speculation, Gamst Pedersen is concentrating on his club form and does not want to be informed of any interest until a firm offer is on the table.

"Yes, I hear the English press have called me the Norwegian Beckham," Gamst Pedersen told VG.

"The English press is known for their writing. I can't stop people speculating, but for me is it about Tromso.

"I have people around me that protect me against the worst. I have told my agent that I don't want to hear anything until it is concrete."

Gamst Pedersen's agent Rune Hauge has worked with Rovers boss Graeme Souness in the past and believes a deal, believed to be in the £2 million bracket, could be done swiftly.

"I'm prepared that things can happen fast, but until then I'm remaining calm," said Hauge. "I have more than enough concentrating on the Tippeliga games."

Souness confirmed the star is a player that interests him, however Tromso may need to lower their demands if they want to strike a deal with the Ewood Park outfit.

"Pedersen was one of several players I went over to watch in midweek but he could be too pricey for us," confirmed Souness.

"The days of us paying big money for players are long gone so we are going to have cut our cloth accordingly."
