Quaresma's Euro 2004 heartache
Barcelona star Ricardo Quaresma has decided to undergo surgery on the foot injury that will keep him out of Euro 2004.
The Portuguese international broke a metatarsal bone in his right foot during the closing stages of Barca's comprehensive 4-1 victory over Espanyol on Sunday, and will now miss this summer's showpiece in his homeland.
Quaresma had been informed that the injury could be treated either with complete rest, or surgical intervention.
The 20-year-old has decided to go under the surgeon's knife and will now be operated on next Thursday.
