Drogba staying with Marseille

Didier Drogba has insisted that he will remain with Marseille for another season, despite a wealth of interest in the Uefa Cup's leading scorer from across Europe.

The Ivorian believes that another year under the tutelage of l'OM boss Jose Anigo will benefit him, and the arrival of his agent Papa Diouf is also a likely key factor.

"Since the very beginning with Marseille, and even through the difficult moments, I felt I made the right choice," said Drogba.

"Next year I will remain with Marseille despite the demands and offers that have come in.

"Of course that is flattering, but I want to stay here.

"I think I would miss some little things if I tried to make my name abroad.

"Moreover, I want to work with coach Jose Anigo. The decision to extend his stay at Marseille confirmed my desire to stay here."

Drogba currently has a contract with Marseille until 2008, and it would take a major bid to tempt the Uefa Cup finalists to sell.
