Curbs: Parker the turning point

Alan Curbishley believes the loss of key midfielder Scott Parker was the turning point in Charlton's season, after the club's challenge for Europe swiftly faded.

The Addicks were sitting fourth in The Premiership, however their challenge faded in the second half of the campaign following Parker's £10 million exit to Stamford Bridge.

Despite being well compensated for the hard working midfielder, Curbishley believes his exit was the main factor in the team's loss in form and league position.

"My big regret was Parker leaving," said Curbishley.

"The club was flying and everything was going along swimmingly. But suddenly it all changed."
