Rae joins Rangers
Rae's contract at Molineux has come to an end and he has decided to return to Scotland and join the club he supported as a boy.
Rae has penned a two-year deal at Ibrox and will join Alex McLeish's men for pre-season training before attempting to reverse fortunes with Celtic next term.
"We are delighted to have signed Alex on a two-year deal," said director of football business at Rangers Martin Bain.
"He is a Rangers die-hard and has already asked to room with our new signing Jean-Alain Boumsong on our pre-season trip.
"He has told us he wants to educate him on the traditions of the club.
"He has told us he is going to give us everything as we attempt to win back the title next season.
"That is exactly the type of player we need in our dressing room."
Meanwhile, Gers have managed to release disappointing Brazilian midfielder Emerson, who has been handed a free transfer.
"After a lot of negotiations with Emerson, we have struck a deal and the player is now a free agent," added Bain.
The former Middlesbrough man had been in dispute with Rangers after they had ordered him to continue training while the rest of the squad went on holiday.
McLeish wanted Emerson out and will be happy he has moved on.
The Gers have also agreed a severance package with Portuguese midfielder Nuno Capucho to cancel his contract a year early.
Capucho has failed to impress since arriving at Ibrox from Porto last summer and the club have decided to cut their losses on him.
