Owls looking to make six bids

Sheffield Wednesday are set to conclude deals for Paul Heckingbottom, Guy Branston and John-Paul McGovern in the next few days.

The three players have all agreed terms with The Owls and are ready to put pen-to-paper at Hillsborough, while another unnamed defender also looks ready to join.

Left back Heckingbottom will arrive from Bradford, centre half Branston from Rotherham, while utility player McGovern will come in from SPL outfit Livingston.

"Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that he will sign for us and that should hopefully be done in the next 48 hours," Turner (pictured) told the club's website.

"Guy Branston and John-Paul McGovern are due to sign after a medical. I have already agreed terms with another player - an experienced defender - for next week. So we look as if we've got four in the bag already.

"Guy is the sort of centre half I feel we need to work alongside the likes of Graeme Lee, and bring Richard Wood on. We need that steel at the back. He's done well in his career.

"Last season with Bradford, Paul was their best player, won their Player of the Year awards and had a very consistent season. I spoke to Bryan Robson about him, he said he was a seven out of ten every Saturday, talks on the pitch and was very good in the dressing room.

"John-Paul impressed us when he came here for a short trial. We've had him watched up in Scotland and he played extremely well as they [Livingston] beat Hibernian 4-1 last Saturday. "

The club have also confirmed that they have agreed deal with Preston North End for their goalkeeper David Lucas and are now to have talks with the player.

The Owls are also trying to lure Blackpool's Scott Taylor after making a bid for the Tangerines star and they are looking to partner him with Luton's Steve Howard - who they made a bid for earlier this week.
