Okocha pens Wanderers deal

Bolton Wanderers have been boosted by the news that Jay-Jay Okocha has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal, subject to a work permit being granted.

Speculation has been rife recently over the Nigeria international's future with the Lancashire side, with Tottenham reportedly interested in his services.

However, following an excellent campaign for manager Sam Allardyce's troops, after finishing eighth, Okocha has finally committed his future to the club.

Allardyce was naturally delighted with the capture and believes the signing demonstrates the strides the club have taken over recent seasons.

"Securing Jay-Jay's services for the next three seasons firmly underlines this football club's desire to compete in the upper reaches of The Premiership," said Allardyce to the club's official website.

"His performances over the past two seasons have helped to fortify the name and reputation of Bolton Wanderers.

"His signature is a marvellous boost to everybody connected the club."

Allardyce has denied the African is on a fortune at Bolton, stating figures in the £7.5 million bracket are some way off the truth.

"Jay-Jay has signed a significant contract, but it astounds me where figures of £7.5 million have come from. This is wide of the mark," he added.
