Bayern bid for Lucio

Bayer Leverkusen executive Reiner Calmund has confirmed that Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich have made an offer for Brazilian defender Lucio.

The 2002 World Cup winner looks certain to leave the cash-strapped BayArena outfit this summer with several leading European clubs reportedly chasing his services.

Calmund admitted that he has received "two or three" offers for the South American stopper "including one from Bayern Munich."

"We know what we want for him and everything else will be decided next week," Calmund added.

Bayern are reportedly looking to offer former Leverkusen stopper Robert Kovac in part exchange for the Brazilian star, although his high wage could be a problem for Bayer.

"Kovac was always a model professional here. He is a decent character and a good footballer, but we simply can't afford his wage demands," he said.
