Roux makes fresh Mexes vow
The France international met with officials of the Italian club earlier this week, regarding Roma's long-term pursuit for his signature.
But despite widespread speculation that Mexes will join the summer exodus from Auxerre, Roux is adamant he will not sanction the sale of the centre half.
With Jean-Alain Boumsong leaving for Rangers, Roux does not want to be deprived of the services of the other half of his central back-line.
Fabio Capello's departure as Roma coach is unlikely to halt the Serie A club's bid for Mexes but Roux has vowed to keep the coveted stopper.
"Philippe Mexes is an Auxerre player and I rely on him for next season," Roux told L'Equipe.
"I have replaced Boumsong with (Rene) Bolf but I didn't replace Mexes.
"The clubs attracted to Mexes can call us. We are polite, we will reply."
