Del Piero confident of Euro fitness
The Juventus playmaker has come in for recent criticism from those who think he is not fit enough to play in Portugal for Italy.
After Italy's friendly with Tunisia on Sunday, Del Piero says that he is on the right track and will be fit come the finals in Portugal.
"I don't think the Tunisia game was a test only for me," said Del Piero.
"It was a test for the whole team and we overcame it. I'm really satisfied with what I'm doing.
"I will arrive in Portugal at the right moment and in the right way.
"If the programme remains like this one, I don't think I'll have any major troubles."
Del Piero has had a couple of muscle problems which have affected his fitness, which put him under the spotlight against Tunisia.
Despite all the talk over his lack of fitness, Azzurri coach Giovanni Trapattoni is confident the Juve maestro will be on top of his game.
"Del Piero's fitness is growing a lot. With Tunisia he only missed the goal," said Trapattoni.
Many have called for Roma youngster Antonio Cassano to take Del Piero's place in the side, but the Juve man does not see him as a rival.
"Cassano? For me he isn't a rival, only a new team-mate," added Del Piero.
