Emerson to snub Real for Juve

Roma midfielder Emerson is ready to snub a move to Real Madrid as he wants to join Juventus.

The Brazilian international has his heart set on a switch to Turin with Roma being forced to sell their top stars to ease their financial problems.

Real Madrid had been confident of signing the defensive midfielder after agreeing a deal with Roma, but it appears Emerson favours a move to The Bianconeri.

"We've made a £12 million bid to Roma," he told Roman Radio. "I don't know what other clubs have offered and I don't want to know.

"However, I don't think there are any footballers in the world who could possibly reject a move to Real Madrid."

Emerson revealed that a number of clubs have expressed an interest in him including Barcelona, Chelsea and Internazionale and he is ready to reject their overtures to join Juve.

"In January president (Franco) Sensi authorized me opening contacts with other clubs and I instructed my agent Gilmar Veloz to listen to a few clubs, one of which was Real Madrid," said Emerson.

"But in that moment they considered excessive my requests. So I don't understand how now they have changed their mind.

"In that period I had been contacted also by Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter and Juve."

Roma would prefer to sell Emerson abroad rather than a Serie A rival, but Emerson remains hopeful a deal can be agreed between the two Italian giants.

"They (Juventus) have been clear from the beginning. I've taken a decision. I want to go to Juve," added Emerson.

"It is Roma which has the problems. Mine is only a professional choice.

"I hope Juve and Roma will find an agreement as soon as possible. I have signed nothing.

"My agent Gilmar Veloz found a verbal agreement with Juve, but Roma stopped that move and told us to look for another team."

Emerson also revealed that Roma rejected a massive offer from Chelsea last season for his services as they wanted to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico

"Last year Chelsea offered ‚é¼30 million to Roma and a five-year contract for me, but president Sensi refused, promising he would let me leave as soon as possible.

"In January I had to leave, but the president told me to be patient, because there was the possibility to win the scudetto."

Roma are reluctant to sell Emerson to Juve as they are still smarting over Fabio Capello's departure to Turin and hope the delay will allow other clubs to try and steal in for the player.
