Juventus confirm talks for Vieri

Juventus have confirmed that they are in talks to bring Internazionale striker Christian Vieri back to the Stadio Delle Alpi.

New Juve boss Fabio Capello has made Vieri one of his top targets as he tries to get the club back on track after a disappointing campaign last term.

Vieri, who is currently away preparing for Euro 2004 with Italy, is thought to be keen on a move away from Inter after a fall-out with coach Alberto Zaccheroni.

Bianconeri general manger Luciano Moggi admitted talks were in progress to sign Vieri, but that a deal was far from complete as a price cannot be agreed for the tall striker.

"There is an obstacle in our path to Vieri and it is an economic one," said Moggi.

"For a move to go through you need the acceptance of three parties: the player and both clubs.

"Those who say nothing are tacitly accepting a situation, so Juve are staying silent. Seeing as Inter are also refusing to comment, I'll assume they are also making a statement of acceptance."
