Govou could be Spurs target

The French media are already speculating as to which players Jacques Santini will look to bring to Tottenham when he takes over as coach at White Hart Lane.

Lyon forward Sidney Govou is the favourite name being forwarded, even though the 24-year-old was initially left out of Santini's 23-man squad for Euro 2004.

However, Ludovic Giuly's withdrawal led to Govou being drafted in to the party and, as he played under Santini at Stade Gerland, there are suggestions he could switch to Spurs in the summer.

L'OL chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted the young forward can leave if a substantial offer is forthcoming.

Another possible target is Arsenal's Sylvain Wiltord who could make the short trip across North London.

The former Bordeaux man is much admired by Santini and is out of contract at Highbury, although it would represent something of a controversial move if he ends up at Spurs. Middlesbrough are also believed to be in the chase for his signature.

As for the number two position at Tottenham, a few names are already in the frame.

RKC Waalwijk boss Martin Jol is a strong contender as is Santini's former assistant at Lyon, Dominique Cuperly, who recently quit at Grenoble.
