Vieri clarifies Inter position

After Internazionale president Massimo Moratti called for Christian Vieri to clarify his position over the hotly tipped move to Juventus, the striker has finally issued a denial.

Rumours that Vieri has already agreed a move to Juve have been circulating in the Italian media - and the lack of any comment from the striker prompted an interjection from Moratti.

"We are not yet in a position to understand how things stand," said Moratti. "As I have always done I must talk to the player and ask what his intentions are."

Vieri found himself relegated to a substitute in the final stages of a terrible season for Inter - with rumours of a rift with under-fire boss Alberto Zaccheroni.

However, the Italy international has finally come out and stated his position - insisting that he would like to stay at Inter if the club can confirm he will remain a key figure.

"The papers say that I have signed with Juve, but it isn't true," said Vieri.

"There is no agreement because I have two years left on my deal with Inter.

"If I am not in Inter's plans and they want to sell me then they must tell me because I won't ask them.

"I want to stay in Milan if given a choice. There are no problems.

"I have heard nothing about Juve's interest but it is flattering because it means I must be doing the right things."
