Deco: I can be world's best at Blues

The Brazilian-born schemer has provided much of the creative edge in Porto's stunning success over the past two seasons in which they have claimed Uefa Cup and UEFA Champions League victories.

Mourinho has already returned to his former club to line up a deal for full back Paulo Ferreira, and is now ready to make another big-money move to land Deco.

The 26-year-old midfielder has admitted he is ready for a new challenge, and feels that Chelsea are the type of club at which he could improve himself further as a footballer.

"I want new challenges," he stated.

"I'd never leave Porto to join Atletico Madrid for example.

"I want a club who offer me the conditions to be the best player in the world.

"That's the biggest motivation of my career. I've already won a lot of trophies as part of a team, but individually I'd like success."

It is reported that Chelsea would have to stump up around £18 million to secure the services of the gifted midfield ace.
