Commons offered improved terms

The 20-year-old, who is a target of Nottingham Forest, was offered a new terms at the end of the season by The Potters.

Despite remaining keen to stay at The Britannia Stadium, Commons made clear that he wanted Stoke to meet his contractual demands with his new deal.

This has seemingly prompted the Midlands club to offer an improved deal to the player, with Rudge stating their hopes they can persuade him to put to paper soon.

"We are desperately keen for Kris to sign and are doing our utmost to make that happen," Rudge told the club's official website.

"We have now made a fresh offer in a bid to entice him to sign and are just awaiting a response from Kris."

Meanwhile, Stoke youngsters Jermaine Palmer and Richard Keogh has taken a loan move to Icelandic side Vikingur.

The former trainees' deal is for two months and will give the pair a chance to play first team football before pre-season starts again at Stoke.

"They are there initially for two months and we feel it will be very beneficial for them," added Rudge.

"They will be playing competitive football in a men's league and it will help them when they report back to the club for the start of our season."

Two years ago, Lewis Neal and former Stoke player Marc Goodfellow enjoyed a similar spell in the Icelandic League.
