Verpakovskis enjoying shop window
The Baltic nation grabbed their first point in a major tournament in just their second ever match at a major finals, as they sprung a shock by holding Germany to a 0-0 draw.
It was perhaps less of a surprise to those who witnessed Latvia push Czech Republic all the way, and just lose out 2-1.
Verpakovskis was in superb form as he terrorised the German defence on Saturday - and should have had at least one penalty when English referee Mike Riley somehow failed to spot two defenders hauling him down inside the box.
His direct running style and blistering pace have led to a number of admiring glances coming his way, and he admits that he would relish a big move after the tournament.
"Yes, maybe. Why not? It might be nice. I would like to try it," said Verpakovskis.
"This tournament is a good chance for me to show what I can do."
The 24-year-old was rejected by English side Wolves last season, and joined Dinamo Kiev instead after leaving Skonto Riga.
With Latvia now to face the struggling Dutch in their final Group D game, they still have a chance of upsetting all the odds and making the knockout stages.
Verpakovskis says that the team are now growing in confidence and, after deserving to win against Germany, can go one better against Holland.
"We could have won against Germany. Against the Netherlands, I think we will have more confidence.
"We are growing stronger with each game. Why can't we go through to the second phase?
"That is why we came here. We believe now that we are good enough to do this so we will try to do it.
"When we arrived here, we had nothing to lose, but we were concentrated.
"People said we would be finished before the third game, but now we are going to play the third game with a chance of qualifying for the next stage.
"It was a dream for everyone in Latvia that we would qualify for this tournament.
"Now we are here and the dream is to reach the next stage."
