Trap laments foul on Buffon
The Azzurri were heading towards a crucial Group C victory against the Swedes after Antonio Cassano had nodded his side in front in the first half.
But with five minutes remaining, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's cute flick snared a point for Sweden after a goalmouth scramble.
Trapattoni feels the Juventus keeper was fouled as he went to gather the ball in the scramble and the draw means Italy need to beat Bulgaria in their final group game to progress to the quarter finals.
"My guys have done their best," said Trapattoni. "We have had a few chances then we fell.
"Sweden played mostly on the wings. For them getting a draw, there was a foul on Buffon.
"For our qualification possibilities, we have opportunities to get our result. Then Sweden must get their result too. We will see."
Trapattoni did praise the performance of Cassano, who proved to be a more than adequate replacement for the suspended Francesco Totti.
He added: "Cassano took his goal well and I think he could improve a lot. He probably deserved to score another goal."
Italy full back Gianluca Zambrotta feels Ibrahimovic should have been penalised prior to his equaliser but remains confident of advancing to the knockout phase.
Zambrotta commented: "I think we suffered a lot in the second half, then we conceded their lucky goal.
"We still have many hopes for the next match. We are confident.
"Ibrahimovic committed a foul on me just before he scored, it could have been whistled. But he has been really lucky to score."
