'El Moro' to quit Real
Spainsh daily AS claims that Real boss Jose Antonio Camacho has held talks with the striker and communicated his desire that he should stay.
Camacho is a big fan of Morientes and made him a regular for Spain during his time as national team manager.
However, Morientes is reported to be less than enamoured at the prospect of another season at Real behind Raul and Ronaldo in the pecking order.
He is believed to have informed Real that he will only consider staying if he is offered a new two-year contract and a substantial rise in his wages.
Real have responded negatively to his demands, and the former Zaragoza star has made it clear he would rather seek pastures new then be only a bit-part player at Real - and is understood to have offers from both Arsenal and Chelsea.
Morientes is under contract at Madrid for a further two years, and it would take a sizeable offer to prise him from the capital club.
However, money would be no object for Chelsea, and it seems in the interest of both club and player that a big-money move will be finalised in the coming weeks.
