Dalmat upset with Spurs exit

Stephane Dalmat says that he enjoyed his loan stint at Tottenham last season, but is still upset at the manner of his departure from White Hart Lane.

The Frenchman has now returned to his home country to play for Toulouse in yet another season on loan away from Italian side Internazionale.

Dalmat says that he thought he did well in The Premiership, but his spell in North London ended on a sour note when he was banished from the first team for no apparent reason.

"It was very special. English football has something special," Dalmat told L'Equipe. "I played some good games.

"I was even elected man of the match five or six times. Then, there was the African Cup of Nations and Kanoute's departure.

"From that moment, I was put apart from the team, but I was not injured. Indeed there was some trouble with a young player from the education centre, who didn't respect me.

"I trained with the Under-16 and Under-17 teams. I didn't understand everything. So in April I left Tottenham."

Dalmat is now hoping to do much better with Toulouse, and is excited by the club's ambition to become one of the big sides in Le Championnat.

"I was quickly attracted by the words of chairman Sadran who wants Toulouse to become one of the five biggest clubs in France.

"I favoured fun, I needed it. I think I have stagnated. I have wasted my time. I have to confirm all my potential.

"Once again, I have to have fun in a family club. We will try to secure our safety soon and end the season in around tenth place.

"They have Daniel Moreira, who really pushed me to join him.

"Of course I am still thinking about the French team. If I can increase my level and become a regular, perhaps I will have a chance."
