Milner rejects Leeds claim

PFA deputy chairman and representative of James Milner, Mick McGuire, has rejected claims that suggest the starlet has turned down a 100 percent pay rise from Leeds United.

McGuire claims no discussions have taken place and that all talks are on hold until Leeds chairman David Richmond returns from holiday.

The talented youngster has attracted interest from a host of Premiership clubs since Leeds' relegation but McGuire insists the future of the player is far from certain.

''We are very disappointed that speculation has appeared which is totally unfounded,'' confirmed McGuire.

''It is important that I make it clear that no discussions have yet taken place about a new contract.

''Talks are on hold until Mr Richmond returns from holiday next week and we are looking forward to hearing what Leeds have to offer.

''Until that happens there is nothing I can say.''

Towards the close of last season Milner turned down a move to Tottenham but with Leeds now no longer a top-flight club, Milner could well be tempted to join a club of Premiership status.
