Cisse's Bolton move in doubt

Bolton Wanderers' bid to sign Birmingham City midfielder Aliou Cisse has reached an impasse.

The Trotters have been attempting to wrap up their move for the Senegal ace for the past month but are no closer to reaching a positive conclusion.

Birmingham have accepted Bolton's offer for the 28-year-old while Cisse has passed a medical at The Reebok Stadium.

But signatures have yet to be put on the contracts as there remain financial aspects of the deal which are deterring Bolton.

Trotters boss Sam Allardyce acknowledged the switch is now looking to be more expensive than the club had initially expected.

Though Allardyce has not abandoned his pursuit of Cisse, the chances of the midfielder moving to the North West are gradually receding.

"We are still talking but it's difficult looking at the overall package," admitted Allardyce.

"It's certainly no fault of Birmingham City but there are some hidden factors when you look at the overall package.

"While it's not yet dead it's certainly on hold. But the danger is that there's always a possibility of another club coming in for him."
