Hamburg back in for Gravesen

Ambitious Bundesliga side Hamburg have received fresh hope in their attempts to lure lost son Thomas Gravesen back to the AOL-Arena after learning that the Dane has no intention of extending his spell at Everton.

For most of the past two years Hamburg had been tracking the popular midfielder, who had often hinted that he would like to return to the Rothosen, where he enjoyed a successful spell between 1997 and 2000.

While Gravesen penning a new deal is not out of the question completely, it is also thought the Dane is also keen on trying his hand at football in La Liga.

"Currently we have no intention to extend his spell and I believe that Thomas would very much like to play for Hamburg again," Gravesen's agent, John Sivebaek, told the German media.

"This club will always have a chance to sign him."

Hamburg are believed to be ready to offer ‚é¼3 million for the former AOL-Arena crowd favourite, but they seem to face stern competition from Spanish side Atletico Madrid, who are reportedly keen to lure Gravesen to the Spanish capital.
