Spurs agree deal for Davis

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed an undisclosed fee with Fulham for England hopeful Sean Davis.

The midfielder is set to move across the capital to White Hart Lane after the two clubs concurred on a fee for the 24-year-old.

Davis must now thrash out personal terms with Spurs and pass a routine medical to complete his switch.

He will be one of the first players recruited by new Spurs boss Jacques Santini, with the club's sporting director Frank Arnesen delighted with the impending capture.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have signed Sean who is one of the highest quality midfield players in The Premiership," Arnesen told Spurs' official website.

"He is a young talent with a great future.

"This is a very important signing for the club and he will have a crucial role to play at the centre of our midfield."

Fulham have had little option but to cash in on Davis after the midfielder rejected the offer of a new contract at the end of last season.

Davis' Craven Cottage deal is due to expire next summer and Fulham admit they have reluctantly accepted the offer to allow the player to leave.

"It is disappointing that, despite the club's very best endeavours, Sean Davis has been unwilling to commit himself to Fulham beyond the end of the coming season," read a statement on Fulham's website.

"Nevertheless, the club is appreciative of the player's commitment during previous seasons and would thank him for his contribution to Fulham during his time here."

Davis had been poised to quit The Cottagers last summer but a move to Everton collapsed amid concerns over his fitness as he was carrying a knee injury at the time of the proposed transfer.

The combative midfielder will now be hoping his move to Tottenham will spark his prospects of securing a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad.
